Zonk Privacy Policy

The short version

Your microphone audio is analysed on your device. Short clips and detailed night records are stored locally. Zonk also includes usage analytics and an optional AppHunt Daily Gift service; these can send information as described below. No account is required to record a night.

Microphone audio and recordings

With your permission, Zonk uses the microphone during a recording session you start. Apple’s on-device sound recognition classifies snoring and other sounds, while the app estimates loudness. Zonk does not retain a continuous recording of the whole night: it keeps short clips of selected loud moments. The session ends when you stop it or after twelve hours.

Zonk does not upload microphone audio or saved audio clips to our servers or to Firebase. If you choose Share, the selected clip is passed to the recipient or app you select, under that service’s own practices. Obtain permission from anyone else whose sounds may be recorded or shared.

Records stored on your device

Detailed night records include times, per-minute sound levels and classifications, snoring estimates, saved clips, selected evening factors and your written notes. These are saved in the app’s local storage. Zonk does not provide its own cloud sync. A subset of night statistics and factor selections can be sent as analytics events, as described below; the detailed records, written notes and audio are not sent in those events.

Your operating system may include app data in device backups according to your Apple settings. Backups are controlled through Apple, separately from Zonk.

Usage analytics

Zonk includes Google Analytics for Firebase. In builds configured with Firebase analytics, it sends events to help us understand app use and purchases. Events can include screens viewed, microphone permission status, the number of factors selected when starting a night, recording duration, the Snore Score, clip count, and which factor was turned on or off. It also records interactions with onboarding, Premium, purchases and restore, rating prompts, Daily Gift and account deletion.

This information is associated with a Firebase app-instance identifier and technical information such as app version, device model, operating system and approximate region. Purchase events can include transaction information provided by Apple. These records are pseudonymous, not a promise of complete anonymity. Audio recordings and your written night notes are not included.

The app is configured without the advertising identifier and with advertising personalisation disabled. See Google’s privacy policy and Firebase privacy information. Analytics availability depends on the distributed build’s configuration.

Optional Daily Gift and AppHunt account

Daily Gift is an optional promotional feature operated through AppHunt. Requests can include an installation identifier, app identifier, language and the region configured on your device. The service uses this information to provide the feature, manage spin limits and associate prizes with the installation. Network services also receive technical connection information needed to process requests.

Claiming a prize may ask you to sign in with Apple. AppHunt then receives an Apple sign-in identifier and any name or email Apple supplies with your permission; you may use Apple’s private relay email. The app stores a sign-in session in its keychain. The gift service does not receive Zonk audio clips or written night notes. See the AppHunt Privacy Policy.

When signed in, you can use Settings → Delete AppHunt Account. This deletes the AppHunt account and saved prizes across participating apps, not just Zonk. Removing the app from your device is not the same as deleting the server account.

Purchases

Apple processes subscriptions and lifetime purchases using your Apple Account. Zonk checks StoreKit entitlements to unlock Premium. We do not receive your payment card details. Purchase analytics are described above. Apple’s handling of your account and payments is covered by its privacy policy.

Support and this website

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to provide. We use them to respond and investigate your request. Only send the information needed to explain the issue. Our email service processes correspondence to deliver and store it.

This website is hosted by Netlify. Hosting involves processing technical requests, such as IP address, browser information, requested page and request time, to deliver and protect the site. See Netlify’s privacy notice. This website does not add analytics scripts, advertising trackers or non-essential cookies.

Retention and deletion

Use Settings → Keep audio clips to select 7, 30 or 90 days, or Forever. The app removes expired clips when it applies retention; night statistics remain until you delete the night. You can delete individual clips or nights, or use Settings → Delete all nights. Deleting the app removes its local container; offloading may preserve data. Manage backups separately in Apple settings.

Deleting local nights does not automatically erase analytics already sent to Google or a separate AppHunt account. Analytics retention follows the project’s configured retention period; contact us about access or deletion requests. Support correspondence is kept as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable obligations. Deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription.

Your choices and rights

You can withdraw microphone access in iOS Settings and choose whether to use Daily Gift or share any clip. The app currently does not offer a separate analytics switch in Settings. Contact us about personal information we or our service providers hold; we cannot retrieve recordings stored only on your device.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of personal information, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Service providers may process information outside your country under their applicable privacy and data-transfer arrangements. We do not sell your recordings or use them for advertising.

Children and changes

Zonk is not directed specifically to children. A parent or guardian should manage purchases and support contact for a child. Contact us if a child has provided personal information through support or an optional account so we can address it.
